Founding & Practicing Member of The Gailey Law Firm, LLC Specializing in
Civil Trial Practice, Divorce & Support Michael Gailey is a founding member of The Gailey Law Firm, LLC, where he specializes in civil litigation, including insurance litigation, business litigation, and domestic relations law (divorce, alimony, child custody and support). Michael practices law primarily within the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit, which is comprised of Morgan, Putnam, Greene, Hancock, Jasper, Jones, Baldwin and Wilkinson counties.
Criminal Prosecution Experience and Election to Part-time Office of
Solicitor General of Putnam County
Michael served as the Assistant District Attorney for Putnam and Morgan
Counties from 1997 through 2002. During this time Michael was
responsible for prosecuting all criminal cases in the Putnam and Morgan
County Superior Courts, Magistrate Courts, as well as the Morgan County
Probate Court. Michael has successfully prosecuted thousands of
criminal cases ranging from routine traffic citations to death penalty
cases. On November 4, 2008, Michael was the first republican
candidate to qualify and win election, without opposition, to the Office
of Solicitor General of Putnam County. As Solicitor General of
Putnam County, he prosecutes all criminal cases in the State Court of
Putnam County as well as the Recorder’s Court of Eatonton. His first act
upon taking Office as Solicitor General was to establish the Putnam
County Solicitor General’s Office Victim Witness Assistance Program.
Michael also established and supervises the Putnam County Solicitor
General’s Office Pre-Trial Diversion and Intervention Program.
Memberships and Affiliations
Michael has been a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia
since 1996. He has served multiple terms as President of the
Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Bar Association for Morgan, Putnam, Greene,
Hancock, Jasper, Jones, Baldwin and Wilkinson counties. He is a
member of the Putnam County Domestic Violence Task Force as well as a
member of the Georgia Association of Solicitors General and the National
District Attorneys Association. He serves as a board member of The
Circle of Love Domestic Violence Shelter in Greene County, the Putnam
County Law Library, and serves as a member of the Animal Law Program for
the Animal Legal Defense Fund. Michael has been appointed by local
Superior Court Judges to serve as Special Master on numerous contested
real estate matters and is admitted to practice law in the Georgia
Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and the United States
Middle District of Georgia Federal Court.
